DoSomething.org

February 24, 2010

Hey there, hope y’all are having a wonderful week so far.
I came across DoSomething.org today, a site that aims to “inspire, support and celebrate a generation of doers: people who see the need to do something, believe in their ability to get it done, and then take action.” They have a lot of really neat tools and resources, including a weekly $500 grant giveaways so that you can turn your ideas for tackling an issue into action. Something that I found that was really encouraging was their page of 2009 Do Something Awards winners. It’s really amazing to hear about what these young people doing, from raising money for Dychenne Muscular Dystrophy to building a children’s home in Asia. Of course, you can read all the great details on the webpage: http://www.dosomething.org/awards/2009-winners. Enjoy, and be inspired!

Question: What time is it?

February 5, 2010

It’s update time!

Hi yalls, time certainly flies and before you know it, it’s been a while since our last post! 2009 passed quite quickly for us, and whether or not it went by just as fast for you, we hope you had a good year.

As we settle into the a new year (golly, February already!), we’d like to give you an update of how things are going. First off, you might have noticed that we’ve had a new layout in the recent months. We’ve also cleaned up and rearranged the Shirts page, with new ordering options. Please head on over there for more info! Furthermore, the Links page is finally alive! We’ve put up links for you so that you can learn more about the global issues, as well as practical tips on how to take action. They’re really great resources, so please check ‘em out. Lastly, Avon recently donated to $195 to World Vision. Here’s a breakdown of where the money went:

1. $85 to the Maximum Impact Fund (World Vision uses the money where it will be of most impact)
2. $60 to Lifesaving Medicines and Supplies, gift multiplied by 14 times
3. $50 Lifesaving Food and Care, gift multiplied by 5 times

Awesome news: manufacturers donated some of their products to World Vision and our donations helps to pay for shipping and distribution so that they help provide 14 times its value in medicine and 5 times its value in food.

As for an update on shirts, we’ve tried working out a couple designs in the past year that unfortunately did not work out. We’ve brainstormed some new designs for the coming season, though, and they should be out in a couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, peruse our library of links, leave a comment/question/concern, or email us!

As always, take care and be well.
